In Loving Memory of Nurse Grissel Leon

Associate Dean, Iyanola School of Nursing

It is with profound sadness that the Iyanola School of Nursing announces the passing of our beloved Associate Dean, Nurse Grissel Leon, who departed this life on Friday, 31 July 2026, following a brief illness.

Today, we pause not only to mourn her passing but also to celebrate a life defined by service, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in nursing education.

A Pillar of the Iyanola School of Nursing

Nurse Leon was far more than a member of our leadership team—she was one of the pillars upon which our institution was built.

Over the past five years, as the Iyanola School of Nursing evolved from a vision into a fully established institution, Nurse Leon played an indispensable role in shaping its academic foundation and guiding its growth. Her wisdom, dedication, and steadfast leadership helped transform ambitious goals into lasting achievements.

Her influence is woven into the very fabric of our institution and will continue to be reflected in every student who walks through our doors.

A Legacy of Academic Excellence

One of Nurse Leon's most significant contributions was her instrumental role in the successful development and approval of the school's nursing curriculum by the General Nursing Council.

Her exceptional knowledge and meticulous attention to academic and professional standards ensured that our programmes were built on a foundation of quality, integrity, and excellence. Through her efforts, countless future nurses will receive an education that prepares them to serve their communities with competence, compassion, and confidence.

Her vision helped establish standards that will continue to benefit generations of healthcare professionals.

A Mentor, Leader, and Trusted Advisor

With decades of distinguished service in the nursing profession and extensive experience as an Associate Dean at another nursing institution, Nurse Leon brought an extraordinary wealth of knowledge to the Iyanola School of Nursing.

She generously shared her expertise with colleagues, mentored faculty members, and provided invaluable guidance during the many challenges involved in establishing a new nursing institution. Her professionalism, wisdom, and calm leadership inspired confidence and encouraged excellence in everyone around her.

Her mentorship extended beyond the classroom and administrative offices. She believed deeply in developing future leaders and was always willing to offer encouragement, thoughtful advice, and unwavering support.

Remembering the Person Behind the Professional

While Nurse Leon's professional accomplishments were remarkable, those who knew her will remember her most for the qualities that defined her character.

She was a woman of integrity, compassion, humility, and grace. Her calm presence, encouraging spirit, and genuine care for others made a lasting impression on students, colleagues, and everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She exemplified the values of the nursing profession and inspired those around her to pursue excellence with both skill and compassion.

A Legacy That Lives On

Although Nurse Leon is no longer with us, her legacy will continue to live on.

It lives on in every graduate who enters the nursing profession equipped with the knowledge and values she helped instill. It lives on in every educator she mentored, every programme she helped shape, and every milestone the Iyanola School of Nursing will achieve in the years ahead.

Her contributions have become an enduring part of our institution's history and future.

Our Heartfelt Condolences

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Administration, Faculty, Staff, Students, and the entire Iyanola School of Nursing family, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Nurse Leon's family, friends, colleagues, former students, and all whose lives she touched.

We are profoundly grateful for her remarkable service, her wisdom, her leadership, and her unwavering dedication to nursing education.
